   I live in a narrow 3 story townhouse, and I have 2 cats. I also have very long hair. I wanted a cordless vacuum for my stairs and knew that Shark is a brand with a good reputation. After only using this vacuum for a week, I was impressed enough to go to Shark Clean’s website to buy a pile of additional attachments. It outperforms my existing corded vacuum, a Panasonic canister vacuum and is about to become my ONLY vacuum. Pros: 1. It absolutely picks up cat hair. I thought my carpets were reasonably clean to start. Nooooo, they were not. 2. I have long hair, and this vacuum has fulfilled its promise to not get clogged by long hair. I’m not saying it never will, but every previous vacuum I bought would start to clog after about 15-20 minutes of run time, and this one is still squeaky clean after weeks of use. 3. If you buy the Multiflex wand from Shark Clean’s website (about $30 + s/h), the vacuum CAN stand upright on its own. I’ve attached a photo as proof. 4. The vacuum is extremely modular by design. It’s essentially a very powerful hand vac with an optional extension wand. All the tools can snap directly onto the vacuum canister or on to the end of the extension wand in upright mode. This means you can vacuum stairs in upright mode or handheld mode, or even take it outside to vacuum out a car. 5. Battery so far has been enough to cover my ~1500sqft home on one charge, single pass. Bigger homes may have different results, and I don’t use the deep clean function (trigger activated) very often. 6. Battery easily pops out for charging or replacement, you can buy extra batteries and charging cables. If the battery starts to go bad, you can replace the battery and not the entire vacuum. 7. You can buy additional tools and parts direct from Shark, such as a dusting wand, a mini brush head for stairs or upholstery, and the under appliance wand. 8. The main brush head has a light, this is actually really nice, because my old vacuum didn’t have one. CONS: 1. It does great on pet hair, but it has trouble with cat litter with the brush head. I did better with the crevice tool. The brush head tends to kick the litter around. 2. The canister is small. It’s easy to empty, but you’ll have to do it frequently. It’s probably comparable in size to other cordless stick vacuums, but it’s a downgrade from the canister size in a full sized upright. This is a trade off they probably made to keep it light. 3. It won’t stand upright on its own without purchasing the multiflex wand separately. 4. The pet tool that comes with it is just a brush head with stiff bristles, you have to provide your own agitation. I got good results with it, but it has no moving parts, it’s literally just a brush head with stiff bristles. I’m trying out their mini motorized brush on top of it, now. 5. The included extension wand is slightly too long for my 5’2″ frame to comfortably use the vacuum on the stairs in upright mode. I was able to counter this by vacuuming the stairs in handheld mode. Taller people probably wouldn’t have the same issue.

   I am loving this vacuum. I did a ton of research! Ultimately I chose this one due to the non hair wrap. I do not have pets, but my daughter and myself have long curly hair. So far it has not wrapped at all! It also works great on my tile without flicking the dirt all over the place. I like that the motorized brushroll attaches to the hand held to do the stairs, my 4 year old also really likes this, as it becomes the perfect size for her to vacuum the floors by herself. The battery life is decent, the only time I had to stop and recharge was when I vacuumed my car, my downstairs, and my stairs, I then had to recharge before doing the upstairs rooms. My house is about 1300 SqF. That was the first time I used the vacuum after fully charging it and I was trying to use it until it died to test battery life. It sits against the wall with no problems for the most part, although if it gets bumped it will slid down the wall when on tile, on carpet it sits against the wall no problem. It comes apart easy enough to declogg and clean. Another reviewer mentioned that it gets a lot of build up in the back of the motorized brushroll, while I did notice some build up, because the brushroll comes apart easily it was not problem to remove any extra dust in there. I am really enjoying this vacuum, and I use it multiple times a day as I have two young kids.

   Best vacuum cleaner I’ve every had, especially for hardwood floors and picking up even long golden retriever hair. (Hair is long, not the dog.) Yes, it’s true, the brush doesn’t get clogged even with long dog hairs. Once I had a clog where dirt enters the tube/handle, but it was easy to pull out. Hair did wrap around the two very small wheels at each corner of the swivel head, but so far this does not seem to cause a problem. Add note: I used this vacuum for FOUR YEARS before I realized above the dust chamber there are two filters you can clean (and I’m sure you should clean). One is foam; one is thinner, sort of like a cloth material. You can easily clean these with a can of (spray) compressed air. Mine were VERY dirty with dust. Duh, after four years. I’m sure my vacuum will work much better now. I’m sure this is somewhere in the instructions I have not read. It’s quiet for a vacuum cleaner, yet it picks up everything from my hardwood floors and carpets. The settings for hard surfaces or carpets work very well, and it’s easy to switch between these two settings. Best results on hardwood or tiles. It does OK on carpets, even though the suction is not as strong as some vacuum cleaners. The swivel brush head is a bit small but because it is small and swivels, it is very maneuverable; it can get into places my old vacuum cleaner could not. Some reviewers have complained that it’s top heavy and won’t stand up. Both are true, but in my opinion, neither is a big deal. At 7.5 pounds, it’s easy to handle. If this is too much, time to visit the gym! I can vacuum 6 rooms + hallways (mostly hardwood and tile) in about 10 minutes. The light above the brush is a very nice feature. After I emptied the dirt bin, the filter fell out on my hardwood floor. Fortunately, none of the plastic pieces broke. The manual tells you how to remove the filter, but not how to reinstall the parts. An “exploded” diagram would be helpful. Some users have complained that the vacuum is hard to store because you can’t stand it up. It’s true it won’t stay up on it’s own, but I found I can store it in a small coat closet. See photo. Under a bed is another option. I’m old enough to remember when Orec vacuum cleaners were great. (Now they are owned by a different company and are not as good as they originally were.) This new Shark is better because it’s not as heavy, is more maneuverable and has NO CORD! The “dings” I’ve pointed out are minor. I love this vacuum cleaner!
