   This robot window cleaner from Mamibot works great. Once you figure out the lingo, it’s surprisingly easy to use. The manual is pretty good and setup is fairly simple, just let it charge for a bit and put some batteries in the remote. All the hardware is already in place and ready to go. Getting going with the app is easy, too. It’s Smart Life, and once the robot was in pairing mode, the app quickly found the device. The connection is just Bluetooth, so the range is limited. But, if you have a hub (<$25), then the robot can pair to the hub as well. The range on the IR remote is under 20 feet and requires being able to point the remote at the right angle. It won’t work from directly below. Using Bluetooth, the app can reach over 140 feet – I was never disconnected, even when 140 feet away and through multiple walls. But, there is no wifi or Alexa connection. In use, it’s a bit disconcerting to let go of the robot for the first time, but it’s actually stuck on very well. I tried to pull it off while it was engaged and I could see the window bowing. There’s also an interesting backup system, that’s why you have to charge it even though there’s a power cord. If the power is ever disconnected, then the robot goes into a low power mode – it continues to be stuck to the window, just at a less intense fan velocity. I tried it out, both intentionally and accidentally, and it works perfectly. The machine will complain about it the whole time, too. Having the voice prompts works well when getting started, but thankfully that can be turned off in the app. Unfortunately, though, there’s no middle ground such as lowering the volume; it’s just on or off. I’d like to be able to turn off some of the basic beginner voice stuff and still keep the important alerts, like being out of water. Also, I wish that when a voice prompt is activated, it would also push an alert via the app. But how does it clean? Pretty good, especially for just how little water is being used and how small the cloth is. Cleaning the outside of the upstairs windows for the first time in 6 months required using the “deep clean” function, which runs over the window in N mode (vertical stripes) and then again in Z mode (horizontal stripes). The robot does a good job of running all the way to the edge and all the way into the corners, too. Oddly, the manual doesn’t mention anything specific to use as a cleaning solution. I ended up using the popular one of 2 cups water, 1/4 white vinegar, and 1/2 teaspoon of blue dish detergent, which seemed to work ok. Once the pad gets too dirty, it will start to leave streaks. Also, once a pad gets too saturated with liquid, it will make the robot slip a bit and lose track of positioning. This can be slightly entertaining as the robot keeps on trying to clean the exact same spot. I like that the device came with 2 cleaning pads (1 installed, plus a spare), and each pad can be flipped over, too. Hopefully additional spares will become available.

   This is actually the third or fourth robot window cleaner that I’ve tested out, but this is the first one that has a square design rather than two round cleaning pads. I was really hoping that it was going to be able to get into the corners better than the round style versions, but unfortunately it has the same exact issue.

   All of that said, this is by far the best one that I have tested because of the bells and whistles such as the voice feedback that lets you know what setting you have changed it to when using the remote. I will just recommend that you check out my video and decide for yourself, but I personally am waiting for them to figure out how to design one that can get into the corners, and when they do I will likely give it five stars, but this one just isn’t quite there so I am giving it four stars..

   Super helpful and reduces the amount of work for large mirrors outdoors. The larger the window it the better it works, however more narrow windows vs large surface area windows. In the desert it gets really dusty but this window does clean it really well. It does an overall good job. I would recommend, however the corners if your windows are really dirty it might be visible

   Sorry in advance for the long video but I wanted to show a complete window cleaning. I ordered this because I have some high windows that are very hard for me to reach and clean. Even when I get up on a high ladder to finally clean my windows, it seems that when the suns comes out and I look through the window it’s looks so smudged and awful. I have been having fun trying out this robotic window cleaner and am now rather obsessed. Pros—— -Cleans windows better and much faster than I do. -Simple to set up and operate. -no app necessary to operate (there is a optional app) -easy to operate remote control. Cons—- -long cords to manage (electrical and safety lanyard). It says to charge for approximately two hours but you need to have it plugged in to operate (not sure why it needs to be charged and plugged in). I have been using water only but would like to add a drop of dish soap and a bit of vinegar (what our window cleaner uses) but it does say not to use anything corrosive or thick. It comes with two cleanings pads but you can flip each one before having to wash (I wash with soap only no softened or alike) and hang dry. There is a voice that tells you what selection you chose and when the device is done. After it’s done you will simply long press the power button and wait for the suction to release. I am actually so pleased with the performance so far. No more tall dangerous ladders for me (I still have to get on a ladder but only to reach my high window to start and remove the cleaner. Fun to clean windows and I love to have sparkling clean windows. An amazing gift idea especially for those with high windows.
