   I’ve had this vacuum since 2017. It had pros and cons. Pros: long cord, good suction, and lightweight. Cons: Mine didn’t have a roller brush, so after several strokes I’d have to turn the suction head over and pull the dog hair off the brushes. I also had to Gerry rig a wire hanger so that I could completely get the hair out of the canister. Finally, today I needed to vacuum, and it stopped running a couple of times. I unplugged it and plugged it back into the socket and to my surprise sparks and smoke came out. I unplugged it, removed the cover plate to make sure there wasn’t any fire that started, and luckily there wasn’t. As I have been looking to replace the vacuum I noticed others have had the same problem with Bissell products.

   Bought this due to an online review identifying it as best value and it did not fail to impress! The suction while running this is amazing and you feel it in your hands as it sucks itself to the flooring. Worked amazingly well as we moved back into our fully renovated house. The amount of dust it managed to pick up was eye opening.

   I’ve had this vacuum for right at 2 years. I use it on laminate wood flooring only. After about 1 month of use, the plastic piece broke that supports the hose at the handle (as other reviewers have mentioned). It didn’t seem to make a huge difference so I didn’t worry about it and used it like that for 2 years. Finally, a week ago, the cord snapped right at the canister. I ordered replacement parts – a hose/handle, the floor attachment (mine was dirty and just needed to be replaced), then got new filters – spent around $80 to get it back into top shape. I installed the parts and it works like new again. Hoping to get another couple of years of use.

   I have 4 children so I vacuum daily. There are a lot of crumbs, paper, dust, etc, and it works well for cleaning up all of that. Suction is good, noise is about average, retractable cord still works perfectly, and canister is easy to remove and empty, then reattach. This is used in my kitchen and living room so the crumbs and mess are heavy. I try to avoid large particles or wet food (eggs, vegetables, etc) because those will cause buildup on the attachment.

   Great, affordable vacuum for laminate flooring. Would recommend!

   I purchased this Bissel 1547 Series vacuum cleaner when my Dyson unit died after just a few years of use. We have two dogs and a cat, and live in an area that sees a lot of windblown sand, so there is always plenty of material to pickup. In addition, I have a small workshop in my house so add to that mix the occasionnal dust and small particles of just about everything I can put my hands on!
   At first, I was attracted to the price, which is more than half of what I paid for my other vacuum of comparable size and design. So I was not expecting this vacuum to be near or better than my previous one. Upon unpacking this vacuum, I was surprized, part after part, of the quality of everything! The hose feels more like a heavy rubber compound and is very soft and very flexible, the attachments all have a high quality feel to them, and click on and off like butter. Some parts are made of steel and are very solid. Both the hardwood floor tool and the carpet tool work incredibly well, given that this compact vacuum is amazingly powerful.
   Overall I have to give this vacuum a 5 out of 5… Great price, very good quality (compared to my all plastic Dyson) and very powerful while still being acceptably quiet. I really reccommend this product!

   Just moved to a new house and needed a new vacuum for a house with laminate floors. Have a Dyson upright and it was too heavy and not that great in picking up small particles on laminate floors. After much anguish and reading so many reviews, settled on this vacuum. I am 95% satisfied. Pros -Quieter than my upright Dyson. Can vacuum at night and not wake up the kids. -Great in picking up small particulate matter and dust. The vaccuum head has a roll that spins when it is in contact with the floor. It does not use a belt but spins passively due to the suction with the ground. -love the cord retraction functionality. Completely awesome. -much lighter than the Dyson -Can choose between 2 vacuum heads and also has 2 small accessory attachments. Cons -it has less overall suction than the Dyson, but yet it worked better on the laminate. -just decent on low pile rug. Would not use this on carpet. -not very compact in storage. See photo. Neutral -cord length is fine in my opinion. Not as long as Dyson, but it’s ok. ———-///———–/-/——- Update 6/2016 It’s been about two months. I forgot to add a few pros – great in picking things up close to the wall. – easy to take off canister, easy to empty, and easy to put back on. – like the easily adjustable length stick Cons- – not so easy to vaccuum stairs. – a plastic piece which surrounds the hose to the handle broke. It’s function was to prevent kinking of the hose at the handle. So far it has not been a problem as the hose is pretty sturdy and doesn’t kink even without it, however, kind of suprised it broke after 2 months. – haven’t really found a use for the 2 hose attachments.

   The vacuum suction is amazing, it’s easy to clean, light weight enough to carry up and down the stairs.. the attachment works great on my rugs but the hose connector pieces have completely crumbled.. I’m worried the hose will get punctured by the sharp edges.. would like a new hose 🙂

   So far we really like this vacuum, it has good suction power, and it’s pretty quiet! It’s replacing a Dyson big ball, this is better! The hole that sucks stuff up is larger, I think it will fit popcorn which the other one does not. I find it runs pretty hot so we will see how long it lasts. I bought another electric cord to add when I’m vacuuming the entire house, we have all hardwood floors and this Vacuum does the job! Cat hair and all!
